The CBD Help Guide For Beginners - Your Questions Answered!

"What is the right CBD dosage amount?"

When it comes to CBD dosage, there is no correct or optimal dosage. Some people have higher tolerance levels than others, and so what works for one individual, may not work for the next. Tolerance may vary according to body weight, your individual body chemistry, or age. Finding your ideal CBD dose is a personal process and requires some self-experimentation to decide what works for you in terms of how much CBD you should take and how often you should use it.

“So, how many drops of CBD oil should I take?”

It’s one of the most common questions we’re asked at Associated CBD and the answer is: there’s no one-size-fits-all dosage. It’s different for everyone. It’s highly dependent on what oil you have purchased and what is the strength of the oil. Typically a good starting point is to aim to take a low dose of oil and work your way up. A low dose might be in the region of 10-20mg, so if you have purchased a 500mg 30ml bottle that will equate to one full drop. If you had purchased a 1000mg 30ml bottle we might suggest taking half a dropper full. Both of the examples here will give you in the region of 16mg of CBD.

The Maths : 1 full dropper equates to 1ML

Therefore 30ML bottle = 30 full drops

1000mg bottle /30 full drops = 33.3mg per full dropper or (16.6mg for a half dropper)

To make this clearer still we have provided two links to some of our best sellers below. An example of a 500mg 30ml bottle can be found here.

And likewise a slightly stronger 1000mg 30ml bottle that has been loved by customers can be found here.

“When do I take my CBD drops?”

Well this will come down to personal preference of course and what your reasons are for taking CBD. Of course, if the aim is to aid with sleep or rest, it would work best to take within half an hour of bed time. If you are looking for a boost of general wellness, or looking for a quick fix then you can take a dose of CBD whenever you feel your body will need it. There is no right or wrong answer and people opt to take CBD at all different moments in the day and under many different circumstances.

“Is CBD addictive”

A common misconception of CBD and the short answer is NO. There have been studies to suggest that many of the benefits of CBD may actually help with many of the issues surrounding addiction and may play a possible part in reducing these symptoms. So much so we have a full blog post here covering off this very question!

“When will I feel the effects?

If you're new to CBD, we recommend that you “stay on your beginners’ dose for two to three days to monitor your experience before increasing your dose up to a maximum of 70mg CBD per day." Sometimes CBD has to accumulate in the body via the fat cells before you feel any difference. It doesn’t always absorb instantly, therefore it is best to give it time.

If after three days you feel that you might need more CBD, try doubling the amount you take. For example, if you’re taking one 10mg dropper three times per day, increase to two 10mg droppers three times per day. Each time you increase, you should wait at least three days before doubling your dosage again. By doing this you can keep a close eye on how your body is reacting to CBD. We also always recommend talking to your GP about taking CBD.

“Full Spectrum vs Broad Spectrum vs Isolate and what is the difference?

Well this is quite a long winded question, but to give the basics:

  • Full Spectrum CBD - Full spectrum CBD includes a wide range of components including terpenes, flavonoids, cannabinoids, fatty acids and trace THC (0.2% legal limit in UK). While the presence of THC facilitates the entourage effect, it is not enough to get the user high.
  • Broad Spectrum CBD - Broad Spectrum contains the same range of terpenes, flavonoids, cannabinoids and fatty acids as full spectrum CBD, but crucially, is absent of THC altogether.
  • CBD Isolate - This is isolated CBD in its purest form - removed of all other ingredients.

What is best for the individual will depend on a number of factors. For example someone wanting to experience the “entourage effect” which is the combination of trace THC and all the cannabinoids working together may wish to try a full spectrum CBD such as these capsules.

A user that may wish to try a full range of cannabinoids but wants greater assurance over THC levels may want to go for a broad spectrum oil like this.

Or those customers that want a pure CBD experience exclusive of other cannabinoids may wish to go for an isolate oil such as Zoetic oil.

Hopefully that gives you a little help in making some CBD choices, but please reach out to any of us as Associated CBD via email or chat if you need more help or guidance.
